Official Launch of MI-Gamer.com Website
« on: March 13, 2008, 05:28:59 pm »
Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know, I'm making a new web site that's dedicated to the Michigan gamer community.  I've named it MI-Gamer.com and it's official launch date is set up for March 21st of 2008.

However, the forum is already working, so you can try it out now if you want.

Skecpa, you going to try and get involved in my MI-Gamer site?  I could use some good forum moderators and review writers...

Well, I'm now in CA, but came from MI.  Moved away about 8 years ago.  I'll stop by now and then but I don't really game much besides AE, the occasional PS2/Wii game, and WoW.

Alas, I can't wait either.

Seems like every time I make a plan to work on it, something comes up...

I've got my fingers crossed this weekend...

As some of you may have noticed, the "official" launch date was a bust.

Turns out that I wasn't able to get as much done as I had wanted to....

But, things are moving forward again.  I've got access to a java game  engine that would let visitors play boardgames online... and I've got the bare bones of structure for the review sections.  Also, I'm starting work on the database that will become the classifieds section and am setting up an interview for the spotlight section.  I'm cautiously optimistic about a new launch date of August 1st, but won't promise anything yet...

Well, it has taken me MUCH longer than I thought, but I do have a database-driven system for displaying flash games, including a ratings system.  So far I have about 60 games and I plan to add 4 or 5 new ones each week so maybe it will take off.

I've also added some emulators for dos, c-64, and snes plus some abandonware titles.  I've got about 3000 dos games from various abandonware sources and I plan to make a database to contain and sort the details on these soon.

Still working on that vassel boardgame engine, having some problems with it.

The forum and chat room are working nicely, although I don't have much time to moderate the forum and really need to clean out spam...  There just are not enough hours in the day!
