GAME LOG.
« on: August 08, 2010, 08:51:00 am »
Nov 1. Samhain.
The cold winds blowing from the western sea tell of the coming snows and the harsh northern winter ahead. Supplies are shorter than usual in the granaries and stores of House Ravenhart as the last harvest seasons fields were fallow for the most part due to lawlessness and banditry in the provinces making life too hard for some of the small folk farmers.

Bannok the bard visits Raven hall bringing news of wars in the south and between the Fae and the Saxons. He also mentions that a wealthy merchant from the city of Carduel in the north has offered a tidy reward for the head of Bordwalka, the giant raider who has been waylaying one wagon too many on the kings road just to the east of the Ravenhart lands.

Later a messenger raven arrives from Eberacum inviting the Raven harts to participate in a grand Cumbrian Tourney, surely one of this size will allow all manner of houses to brush shoulders with each other.

Quinlan Wull arrives in Ravenhall requesting supplies for the support of his clan through the winter, after some discussion terms are agreed upon which include the assistance of one of Wulls warriors to aid in the hunting of Bordwalka the Giant. Also a message from the Harklay clan informs the Ravenharts of eerie lights atop Maabs Barrow three nights ago  and now the Harklays fear the area as it is plagued by shades and ghosts believing that the souls of the dead now walk the area due to the time of Samhain.

  Nov,5
I travel now with house Ravenhart on a quest to find the infamous giant Bordwalkka who for months now has plagued the passing caravans of the Rheged trade road. I must say after spending one night in Ravenhall it is good to be on the trail again as it seemed to be more perilous in the confines of Lord Tathal's hall than without.

It has been an interesting few days heading into the hills to see maabs Barrow in all its somber majesty. A great surprise awaited all of us as my long lost master, the great Merlin had camped there. He placed new oaken saplings in the hands of the wild lords of Ravenhart and told them to plant a grove near Icewatch and protect it with all their strength as all of Britannia depended on it. As soon as he had given his  commands to the lords of Ravenhart he requested the company of the Ravenhart Cadre into the twilight realm of Tir Na Nog.

   Nov 6,
The trek through the mountains of Maabs barrow was to say the least cold and miserable as most of the Ravenharts had little to say ion the way of interesting conversation. Although the Lady Isabaeu could have been a welcome addition to this party if not for her overbearing  brother. Late this night we we were woken by the commands of Sir Cauthor as a raiding party from the Liddell Clan descended upon our camp, unfortunately for them  this band of weary travellers had dealt with many a raiding party before and quickly cut the warriors down.

Sir Gaulric showed that he has little in the way of patience or mercy when he cut the head from a Liddlel clansman's shoulders wjhile  he spoke terms of parley with Sir Gaulrics sister Isabaeu.

   Nov 7,
The hunt now moved into the forests of Perilous as we neared the grounds of Bordwalkka. We followed a trail of broken carts and bodies to his abode which happened to be Tennains Tower , an old abandoned keep that made a nice home the beast Bordwalkka.

With great skill Sir Gaulric and Sir Cauthor commanded the Ravenhart few, as the knights charged in the other warriors which included the fierce north women  and a Clansman guard from the Wulls surrounded and brought Bordwalkka and his kin to the earth to breathe no more and hence forth all the treasures of the Giant now belonged to the warriors of Ravenhart.

Nov 7

both young lords of Ravenhart stayed at tennains tower to guard the goods and the heads of the giants as the ladies of the house along with my self Bannok made our way back to Ravenhall to collect the wagons and horses to pull back such a large bounty. We seemed to get turned around in the mists of Maabs barrow and ended up a lot further north than we intended .  Luckily we happened upon the clan Wull village and were taken in out of the rain and cold through that night.

   Nov 9.
This morning a warrior from Clan Wull escorted us back to Ravenhall where we put together the wagons and the cadre of Lady Isabeau were summoned to escort us back to tanniens Tower.
    Nov 10
We were stopped at entrance to Irvins vale by the warriors of Clan Harkley for they were camped awaiting battle with their most hated foes, clan Liddell.
My lady Isabeau was able to negotiate a truce most eloquently and by morning the clansmen of Liddel were leaving the valley. I do make note that Clan chief Hywell Harkley did not seem to overjoyed by the new found. truce between his clan and his centuries old enemy but such is the life of a vassal. And thus the path was cleared for the Ravenhart knights and Ladies to haul their bounty back to the safety of Ravenhall.

  Nov 13.
We embark on an exciting adventure as in a weeks time the  regional Tourney of Cumbria is to be held in the great city of Eberacum. Many a knight of Reknown will attend and perhaps some of the minor knights and lords will be able to find glory in the lists.  That said glory will not be found by Sir Cauthor as he is one to duel with the quill and not the sword and thus he travelled by longship to Carduel to recieve payment for the slaying of the hiant from Duke Escan and the merchant Malnir.

 Nov 16.
A weary trip it had been for the last three days through the rains and fog of the forests of Cumbria during Samhain's reign. We found comfort in the Hawksridge Inn just to the south of Catterick on the Kings road this night and as we sat at the table about to sup on venison and turnips, through the door strode the Merciless Saxon lord Sir Turquine  of the Dolorous Tower with his band of brothers who quickly cleared the area around the fireplace.
